Vancouver riots and our sick sports culture
The problem in Vancouver is not just from the rioters, but the conditions in Vancouver - and also the NHL and sports writers that throw gas of the fire (yes-pun intended!) of the Canucks loss to Boston. What the people of Vancouver should have done is to hold a parade for the Canucks, along with a huge party, win or lose, just as the Dutch did after their World Cup loss to Spain last year. The Vancouver Canucks had a great season -- the NHL and sports writers will need to be reminded -- and this should be celebrated, not shamed!

Liam Fox and his silly”Gaming Patriotism”
Liam Fox complains about the latest addition of Medal of Honor in another episode of silliness from a Heritage Foundation-type, right-winger. The fact is that one can play a Taliban (or a Soviet or Nazi or terrorist) in some of today's combat sim games, which has been a reality since 2001...as far as I know. Now - what business is it of Dr. Fox what grown adults, the majority of them probably military veterans, play in their own homes, anyway? (Kids generally don't like combat sims due to the realism.) This is yet another lecture from a right-winger that likes to lecture us about "free speech" and "free expression" for themselves on the "patriotic right," but not for others. As a long-time gamer of the Operation Flashpoint game (OFP), I find such moral judgments as ridiculous and silly. I have played enemy, but most often Americans are not a part of my game. As a Russian player I have shot at Georgians, but also Soviets, and I have played a Dutch soldier most times. I don't see any emotional attachment - and those who do must have a freaking mental problem! Yep - you just need "gaming patriotism!" Which is perhaps Liam Fox's real problem or should he give a game like OFP "a go" and play a Challenger tank commander, SAS operative, Royal Marine or fly a Tornado jet(?)! He just might find it fun!Anyhow - this Thatcherite twit needs to keep his fascist, "gaming patriotism" nonsense out of my gaming life!
